Rob Carter

A qualified lawyer with a science degree and over 25 years’ experience working as an IP lawyer and senior manager in the global IP team of Royal Dutch Shell plc, 9 years of which were spent handling the IP aspects of mergers, acquisitions and divestments across all the Group’s business sectors and around the globe.

Rob is very well versed in all aspects of the creation, management and exploitation of intellectual property assets, including through industry and academic collaborations, joint ventures, technology licensing, brand licensing and M&A transactions.

Rob has also negotiated and drafted all types of IP agreements, including confidentiality agreements, IP assignment agreements, R&D agreements, joint development agreements, consultancy agreements, technology licence agreements, joint venture agreements, trade mark licence agreements and sponsorship agreements, as well as the IP clauses in all manner of other business agreements, such as manufacturing agreements, supply agreements, distribution agreements and employment agreements.

Since 2014, Rob has worked in private practice where he has been able to use his unique combination of scientific, industrial, legal and management experience to benefit companies of all sizes and across all business sectors. He is used to working independently with clients as well as collaboratively with other professional advisers, both in-house and external, to deliver projects to clients.
