Annie’s clients have spanned a broad range of industries, from well-known airline, beverage, cosmetic, software and construction companies, through to political and artistic figures such as ‘Banksy’.
Annie advises all types of clients including individuals, associations, SME’s and major companies on all matters relating to the pre-filing, registration, use and exploitation of a trade mark, as well as the prosecution of an application through to registration, and all related issues arising.
She handles a mix of contentious and non-contentious issues, providing considerations for negotiation during settlement of disputes; providing risk assessment analysis following clearance searches; preparing specifications; letters before action, oppositions and the like, through to working on defensive actions such as revocation and invalidation with the relevant registries.
Annie also advises on basic enforcement and registrability of copyright, domains and design, and has a very high record of overcoming examination refusals likely as a result of her previous internal experience at the EUIPO. In addition, Annie has experience of advising on character merchandising licenses and assisting in corporate transactions by conducting necessary due diligence, preparing and filing assignments, and drafting rights holder agreements where there are a number of IP rights holders requiring definitive scope of respective ownership proportions.
Annie was the first ever student to be awarded a scholarship to study Intellectual Property Law at the Queen Mary University London as a result of her application based on trade marks.
