His previous role as a patent office examiner distinguishes Steven from most other attorneys. A physicist by training, Steven is adept at getting to grips with a broad range of technologies within the wider engineering field. He is also a specialist in registered designs. Having studied Natural Sciences at Cambridge University, Avir handles a wide range of subject-matter stretching from mechanical to software-related technologies and has considerable experience in handling EPO Oral Proceedings before the Opposition and Examining Divisions, and the Boards of Appeal. He is adept at tailoring his IP advice to the particular client, whether they are a small start-up or a large corporation with an established in-house IP team. Avir enjoys motorsports and playing racket sports in his free time.
As a Chartered (UK) and European Trade Mark Attorney, Meena specialises in global brand protection and the management of trade mark portfolios of all shapes and sizes. Meena’s legal background, her specialist in-house experience and her commercial, pragmatic approach make her uniquely skilled within the field of intellectual property law.
Richard handles a wide variety of chemical technologies in a diverse range of commercial fields, including fuel cells, composites for aero engines, alloys, polymers, printing ink/toner and cosmetic active ingredients, such as anti-dandruff actives and sunscreens. He is also at home in mechanical fields and has worked extensively in areas such as medical implants and oil and gas technologies. For six years, Richard was a member of the electromechanics examination committee for qualifying as a European Patent Attorney. Richard also has a great deal of experience and expertise in handling EPO oral proceedings.
Jessica trained as a Patent Attorney after completing her undergraduate degree at Cambridge University. She mostly handles mechanical work, and has experience in fields including the automotive industry, pet equipment, toys and medical devices. She has particular experience providing freedom to operate advice and in advising clients in alleged infringement situations. When not working, Jessica spends her time swimming, powerlifting or dog training.
Louise handles work across the physics, engineering, electronics and computing fields and has particular experience working on medical devices, software-related technologies, optics and sports equipment. She has considerable experience in EPO opposition proceedings and in drafting initial applications for individuals, SMEs and university departments to ensure strategic early protection for their key inventions. Louise enjoys playing football and travelling in her spare time.
With a PhD in Bioengineering and a Master’s in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Edinburgh, James possesses a broad knowledge of Science and Engineering. His PhD focused on engineering novel biomaterials to promote the regeneration of damaged/diseased tissue; therefore, naturally, James’ interests lie in all things related to healthcare, medical devices and biomaterials. However, he is also passionate about novel technologies in the oil and gas sector after spending several months as part of the R&D department in the world’s largest oil and gas services company. Beyond the office, James enjoys golf, rugby and climbing.
Having worked in IP for over 20 years, Gail is vastly experienced in trade mark legal formalities with a particular interest in US use requirements. Having previously managed the trade mark renewals department for both a specialised annuities firm and for one of Europe’s largest patent and trade mark attorney firms, Gail has excellent administration and organisational skills coupled with an in-depth knowledge of trade mark maintenance worldwide. She understands the importance in even the tiniest of details and works to provide clients with the right solution to meet their IP needs.
Louise has worked in the legal sector for over 30 years and in IP for the last 14 years, with experience in patents, trade marks and designs. Louise has experience in all IP formalities. Outside of work, she enjoys cooking, West End theatre shows and has recently begun a course in photography.
Siobhan is a qualified CITMA Trade Mark Paralegal and CIPA Patent Administrator. With almost 20 years’ experience, she has a senior management role, which draws on her wealth of experience in global patent, trade mark and design administration, records, formalities and renewals. She has a keen eye for detail, and regularly uses her excellent administration and organisational skills to look for ways to make processes more efficient and to streamline operations. Outside of work, Siobhan enjoys travelling, music and keeping fit.
Alicia has worked in the IP field for over four years, gaining experience in the renewals departments of two of the largest patent and trade mark attorney firms in Europe. Alicia’s role incorporates both renewals and paralegal work, with both aspects of her role benefiting from the attention to detail and high level of care that she shows each client portfolio.
