How We Will Use AI

We are committed to working with AI in a way that’s 100% safe for you, and where every action is overseen by a legal professional.

Our Use Of AI & Commitment To Client Protection

We combine expert legal counsel with advanced technology to deliver precise, efficient, and cost-effective services.

We embrace AI tools responsibly to streamline administrative workflows, conduct analytical research and enhance overall service delivery.

Our adoption of AI is strictly governed by established professional frameworks — including regulatory guidance issued by:

This ensures technology serves exclusively as an enhancement to, rather than a replacement for, high-quality legal representation.

Uncompromising Confidentiality & Data Protection

The security of your intellectual property is paramount. We adhere to rigorous operational safeguards to ensure your proprietary information remains fully protected:

  • Closed & Isolated Environments — we utilise enterprise-grade, secure software. Your information, documents, and technical instructions are never processed through public AI tools or unverified platforms.
  • No Model Training — we ensure your data will not be used to train third-party machine learning models. Your trade secrets, inventions, and business strategies remain exclusively yours.
  • Regulatory Compliance — our AI workflows fully align with UK GDPR, client confidentiality duties, and relevant regulations, eliminating any risk of cross-client data exposure or unauthorised access.

Always A Human In The Loop

We do not blindly trust or rely on AI outputs. While generative AI tools excel at high-speed data parsing, document structuring, and administrative drafting, legal strategy requires nuanced human judgment, technical expertise, and professional accountability:

  • 100% Attorney Accountability — every work product assisted by AI technology is thoroughly verified, refined, and signed off by a qualified UK or European Patent or Trade Mark Attorney.
  • Fact Checking & Quality Control — AI-assisted research and legal analyses undergo mandatory human review to identify and correct any inaccuracies, incomplete technical details, or “hallucinations” before work is delivered or submitted to IP granting authorities.

Important Guidance For Innovators: The Risks of AI Drafting

We actively encourage businesses and inventors to explore AI as an internal tool for brainstorming and preliminary research. However, in line with official advice issued by CIPA, relying solely on commercial AI models to draft and file patent applications without qualified oversight carries critical legal risks that can permanently and irretrievably jeopardise your IP rights:

  • Inadvertent Loss of Novelty — inputting unfiled, confidential technical details into standard or public AI tools can constitute a public disclosure.  In the UK, Europe, and most global jurisdictions, any public disclosure prior to your official filing date destroys novelty, which may invalidate subsequently filed patent rights .
  • Plausible Yet Legally Flawed Drafting — generative AI tools excel at creating fluent, persuasive text, but they lack genuine legal foresight. They frequently omit subtle technical details required to meet strict legal “enablement” standards, confuse international legal requirements, or introduce factual inaccuracies.
  • Commercial & Enforcement Gaps — a robust patent must not only pass initial examination; it must withstand competitor challenges and due diligence during investment or sale. AI models cannot reliably align claim scope with your long-term commercial strategy or anticipate enforcement hurdles down the road.

Transparent, Value-Driven Service

Integrating secure AI into our internal operations allows us to optimise routine tasks, reduce turnaround times, and maintain predictable fees.  The ensuing direct efficiencies are passed on to our clients.

If you have specific corporate policies or instructions regarding how AI tools are used on your portfolio, we are pleased to tailor our working practices to align with your requirements.
